About BeKyoot

As many things do, BeKyoot started in a very different spot than it is today. Several friends and family members came together and started an anime retail business, selling anime, manga and various merchandise through conventions across the US. Then our Creative Director, Christy, decided to make a few cute t-shirts based off of pets and funny random ideas she had. Those shirts sold so well, we started to turn more and more of our inventory over to those designs and characters. Some of our OG fans STILL have the original Cup o’ Momocheet shirt! We officially switched our name to BeKyoot in 2007 and debuted that alongside our Happi Paper mascot costume at Anime Expo in Long Beach. Who was inside the costume? That’s always been Christy, and she developed Happi Paper’s personality and language while interacting with attendees at conventions.
The stories and characters are based on the antics of real pets past and present. These were all developed over the years, and accelerating dramatically through Christy’s daily drawing habit that started in 2015. Ten years later, there are now 7 comic compilation books including one standalone Pudge the Pug Collection. New comics are published weekly, and we release new plush designs typically during the summer at San Diego Comic Con, where we’ve been attending since 2008. Our next challenge is animation!
